Senior Web Developer, Team Leader

Job description

Joining the Web Management team you will have strong C#, all round web development skills and experience, line manager to Developers (up to 3 direct reports), organise project tasks, contribute to overall project management, coaching and the evolution of the team. This role would suit someone looking for a balance of development, project management and management.

Salary

£35-50K pa

Responsibilities

The main responsibilities of the Team Leader role are:


  1. Development of all the company's web systems using C#, MSSQL and core web technologies
    1. Develop new website functionality
    2. Develop other web based software (services, web services etc.)
  2. Support and maintain existing software
  3. Be a key member of the Project Organisation/Web Management team -  weekly planning of projects and teams alongside the other Project Team Leaders and the Head of Web Development
  4. Assisting project stakeholders and internal customers in requirements gathering and scoping of tasks within their respective Projects
  5. Organising project tasks and allocating team resources
  6. Keeping up to date with all team/project related tasks whilst in development or in testing
  7. Scheduling and overseeing of releases to the live environment
  8. Assist with ongoing recruitment of Web Development staff as required
  9. Assist with and guide ongoing improvements to department practices and infrastructure including training
  10. Regular one to one meetings with direct reports (3) and annual reviews
  11. Coaching and training analysis of direct reports and all department staff
  12. Be an advocate in the department’s increasing commitment to testing, documentation and knowledge sharing

Requirements

In addition to excellent technical and communication skills, suitable candidates will require a high level organisation due to the diversity of projects involving all areas of the system. Our aim is to organise all tasks into suitable projects, allocate resources based on the requirements of the project and then execute the project as efficiently as possible. For the most part, the Team Leader will be able to focus on one project at a time but will be required to look forward to the next project as the current one comes to an end.


The role is hands-on in terms of development but will also involve managing up to 3 direct reports and the requirement to manage resources within allocated projects where the number of developers in the team may vary from project to project.

Technical skills:

  • Strong C# / .Net
